The aftermath

I wish this was the only damage. Oh well, I had a nagging rear brake problem I need to investigate, and that will mean unwrapping the bar.

Hmmm, something seems amiss here. Maybe some duct tape could fix it. You think?

Yeah, a little duct tape should do it.

On second thought, maybe not.

I thought my face to most of the impact, but apparently the wheel did

But my face took a lot

ALWAYS wear your helmets when riding, kids!

Shoes got a little scuffed, but not bad.

Somebody isn't quite as happy today as yesterday.

But, I'm trying to keep my spirits up. I would like to sincerely thank everybody for the good wishes, prayers, and kind words. It means the world to me! :-)

As I was finishing this off, Scott and Robin came over and delivered a custom made present to me. It's a mixed beer six pack with a personalized label:

Wham!Bulance Ale
We cure what ales ya!

WTF!! meaning "What the FLAW" happened?!! How can the bar holding that wheel snap like that? Flawed? defect? seriously, that is a crazy break to the bike...do u have an idea David on how the Flock did that happen?

Well take it easy, you look umm like you need a few cold beers:) umm more then a few.

Take care & heal well

Well, when you run your front wheel into a concrete wall at 30mph, soft parts tend to exibit deceleration trauma. It seems the carbon fiber front forks, wheel rim, and my face were the softest of the bunch.

Mendy is not allowing me to have any cold ones at present. Maybe one right before bed, to help me sleep through the aching and burning. I can only hope...

Oh man...I had pictured it bad, but seeing it in your head and in real life are two very different things. After seeing the pics of the bike, you are so lucky to not still be in the hospital. I'll be sending healing vibes your way.

Diggin the thumbs up :-) Knowing you, you'll probably be back on that baby before anyone wants you to be LOL

And don't worry, even with a little road rash you're still a handsome lad ;-)

Just a flesh wound. Walk it off! (only kidding)

Seriously though, it could have been much worse. Heal fast and make a quick come back. I'm glad to see you're keeping your spirits up. Take care.

Hi, David.

I found you and Mendy through JavaMom's blog. She is a longtime buddy of mine (running and mommy-wise) and she mentioned your accident the other day.

I am so sorry that happened!!! I think the pictures tell the story.

Hope you're healing now and starting to feel better. And hope you're able to fix your bike soon, too!!!
