Clams and carne asada

Barely enough time to (re)pack, but certainly not enough for laundry! I got in tonight just before 8, but I'm back out to the (other) coast first thing in the morning. I'm starting to understand how Tiff lives. This is hectic, and not a ton of time to exercise. Well, business meetings (i.e. free dinner) got in the way of my planned long run, but I don't know how conducive that area is for running anyway. I will be able to over the next few days, though. Maybe even get a chance to do a group ride with Paul. Well, way behind him, but the same day and in the same-ish zip code.

I'm looking forward to doing something more fun on this trip. Boston was all business, albeit good for my career. I try not to schmooze, so I wind up off the radar until things are a big deal, then I pop up and execs wonder where the heck I've been hiding. Anyway, San Diego will be some Navy stuff and some diving, and it's been too long since I've been able to go diving.

Anyway, the Clemson tri went pretty well. I was faster than last year, though still disappointingly slow on the ride. It's really hilly, and seems to not let me get into my stride until almost half way through. I managed to get 5th in my age group, out of 34. I think I went 54th overall out of 328 men. Our team had a good showing, and one of my team mates took 3rd overall, while another went 2nd in our age group and a third went 3rd in his age group. For reference, I was :40 off 4th place, :64 off 3rd, and :76 off 2nd. Tight competition, for sure! Full race report here.

I hope I'll be able to get online tomorrow evening and catch up some more. But most of all, I hope Mendy and Grace don't forget me by the time I get back.

Mendy did say something about having a hot date with someone named, "Mistah K". Not sure what is up with that. Have a nice trip! Wave at me when you fly over AZ, k?

Watch out for sharks in San Diego. Rememver to take off all your bling before diving -- sharks are attracted to shiny objects!

Another fun trip out West for you? Coolness! Yes, do wave and say "Hi!" to the fishies for the rest of us landlubbers, and have a safe trip :-)

Great job at Clemson. The competition is amazingly tight. Literally every second makes a difference. I'll miss seeing you at Murray but we'll catch up at FoF. Have great trip and enjoy the West Coast.

Good work! You need to post those race reports here! Don't send me over to BT... :)

Hopefully you'll have time to ride on Saturday morning. I need some company.
