Aquaman

Is it seriously only Wednesday? Geez, it feels like Friday at least. And today (at work) took FOREVER to end! Part of it is the anticipation of a long weekend, but part is that I've stepped up the training this week. I took an unplanned "rest" couple of weeks, with limited intensity, and it actually wound up being a great time to start the season anew. And Monday of this week I heard the most wonderful news of all: No kid's swim lessons this week at the Y!!!

The last couple of weeks, since school let out, have been awful in the pool. I've submitted my displeasure to the aquatics director, and maybe they will do something. Several days I've showed up to swim in one of the 3 lap lanes, only to find one is filled with physical therapy oldies, one has 2-3 people doing laps, and one has private kid's swim lessons going on. I don't have all day to wait, so I turn around and walk out. Talk about a motivation killer (for me)! At that point I may squeeze in a short run, or just go back to work so I can leave early and get a run or ride in. But not this week! I've swam 3 days in a row, and plan on finishing out the week in the same fashion. Add to that the other workouts (running and cycling, with a brick tomorrow) and it's a recipe for one tired David.

As far as the spectator report for IronGirl Atlanta '08, Wes, Scott, and I were duty-bound to suffer through 700+ sets of spandex clad boobies. Being a supportive husband isn't always easy, but at least it shows I care. Seriously, though, it was great to see Mendy, Denine (Mendy's friend), Robin, Jackie, Dee Dee, and Lauren have fun and do well, as well as all the other ladies (of widely varying physiques and speeds) tri-ing their best and doing something good. And believe me, it was a tough course! I told Scott I was glad I wasn't racing that day. See Mendy's blog for the pictorial. Of course, the preceding night's dinner was fantastic, and a great chance to meet Kevin and Cathy, along with all the other suspect characters. All the fixins of a great weekend!

I swear I'm going to get around to all the other blogs and check on my homies. Sorry for the absence - life has left little spare time lately.

I'm lucky that I've never had to wait for a lane at my gym. Even when they took over two lanes for aquatots!!

Yea, it was a great weekend!! Dee Dee and I enjoyed seeing you guys again.

Happy training, bro! Hope you have a great kickoff to part two!!

Congratulations on the beginning of your NEW SEASON! I think that's a great place to start! It looks like your swimming as picked up the pace! You're hammerin' those 500's! Way to Go!

3 MORE days in the pool? If you're not careful, your calves may sprout some bad ass dorsal fins, not unlike AquaMan himself.

ROFLMAO at Lisa!! You know that's the first sane advice I've seen from her. Although I would add maybe a shot of vodka somewhere in there. That always does wonders. Good to see you homie! We've missed you guys!

Sounds like the pool situation has been a frustration, but otherwise, everything looks like it's going pretty well!

Yes, I'm back from the wedding/honeymoon, but my computer is in a box (and work is kind of weird about paying me to blog. Harrumph to them.). I'm moving this weekend ... so blogging will resume next week! In the meantime, no pics yet. Maybe I can throw up a quick message at lunchtime ...

Good for you for being supportive at the IronGirl. More soon!

That situation reminds me of our Y pool. It can drive a person bonkers. Half the time I try to pack shorts and tennis shoes so I could run or hop in a bike if I can't get into the pool. Kind of disappointing.

I hear you about the pool, the only time available for laps at our pool is 5:30 am....not going to happen for this chickie...it takes me a half hour to get there!

Glad to hear you were out "supporting" the spandex boobie group!! Good for you!

That does sound annoying about the pool. Hope you continue to get time in there!!

Enjoy your weekend!

No worries about the absence. I've been busy too and haven't been posting on anyone's blogs. Tonight is an exception, and then I'll probably go another month before I respond again. LOL!!!!!
