And I ran..

...I ran so far away...

We had to take a plane there

But Javamom took care of the other transportation
We enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner the first night

And, of course, had to visit the bathroom

The obligatory pre-race pasta meal. Where's J-mom?

She showed up 20 minutes later ;-)

We had to wait for the race start

We waited for quite a while

Then we all finished the race!

We enjoyed recovery burgers

Then we enjoyed recovery cocktails

A (boys) bathroom pic with the queen of bathroom pics!

We went to a great Italian restaurant

We ate Italian food there

We enjoyed some more recovery cocktails

We eventually had to leave Javafest 2008

We layed over in Houston

We had a really, really, really, Java~rific time!

Thanks to J~Mom for hosting and transporting us all around, and for entertaining us immensely. Thanks to Pokey for volunteering her husband's gigantic SUV and taking us to the race (and back). Thanks to Jess for the race watch updates! Thanks to Mendy, Lori, Marcy, J~Mom, J~Dad, Pokey, Pat, Eric, Taryn, and Clay for the great times and new friendships! And thanks to all the other blog homies that cheered us on! Yes, it was fun; yes, you should have been there; yes, you can come next time!

And the run? 1:37:34 It started great, but I would swear the 2nd half was longer than the first. Shoulda taken in some calories. But, in the end, this weekend wasn't about the run. It was about the fun, and we had plenty!

"C" race, "A" event

So, I'll go ahead and classify this as a "C" race for my 2008 schedule. It's my own fault: I have only this week engaged any semblance of early (or pre-) season training. Running has been hit-and-miss, with a 10 miler done 1.5 weeks ago, and 6+ done on Tuesday. But, I am happy to report that I ran the 4.3 Monday, 6+ Tuesday, biked 21 Wednesday, and FINALLY got back in the pool for a painful and difficult 1000yds today. Running is going well, but it's apparent I haven't cycled or swam in quite a while. For details, check the training log link on the right.

Am I dismayed by all of this? Heck no! I'm fitt'n to raise up and get my fiesta on with J~mom, Marcy, Lori, Eric, Pokey, Pat, Chad (hopefully), Taryn, and...oh yeah, Mendy (though every day is like a party with her!). I hope I didn't miss anyone. This will be a really fun time for us, and something we've been looking forward to, even if dreading the actual run. Eh, it's only an hour and a half out of the weekend, right? I hope so, anyway.

We are flying out tomorrow, and will be offline until Monday night (at least), unless Lisa lets us hijack her computer. But that means slowing down (and Mendy sobering up enough...j/k) to check in. Nah, just expect some pics and accounts next week. Wait, does what goes on in AZ stay in AZ? Well, maybe you all will just have to rely on the updates the lovely Jess provides. Thanks Jess!

To all others racing or training this weekend not where we are going to be, go kick some butt and do your best!
