Today's word: Acedia

From Wikipedia:
In the Christian moral tradition, sloth (Latin: acedia, accidia, pigritia) is one of the seven capital sins, often called the seven deadly sins; these sins are called the capital sins because they lead easily to other sins. Sloth is defined as spiritual and/or actual apathy or laziness, putting off what God asks you to do, or not doing it or anything at all. Acedia is a Latin word, from Greek akedia, literally meaning "absence of caring". Acedia can also lead to God's wrath.

Kinda sums up my recent exercise patterns. I've been feeling really lazy of late, and it sucks! Preparations for upcoming Christmas activities are definitely edging out training time, but I haven't "made" the time, either. Time to put my rally cap on and get to it.

I'll start tomorrow.

Looking at that Latin makes me think that perhaps "academic" is derived from the same Latin root. Interesting...

But amongst sins, I think sloth is occasionally warranted. We all need to be lazy every once in awhile.

BTW, I can nevr nme seven dey sins: pride, gluttony, lust, sloth, envy, greed...and that's about all I got. Not even thinking back to the movie "Seven" reminds me of the last one, and I usually have a very accute memory for anything Brad Pit related.

Is it truly sloth if you have your gal in one arm, your child on your knee, and a beer in the other hand ;-) Tomorrow is always a new day. It's when we strink too many "new days" together that it becomes sloth :-)

Just double fist come beers and pump them up and down like you would free weights. Problem solved :P

It's that time of the year. Who wants to do anything? :-/ Too much stuff going on with the holidays, ya know? *sigh*
