I have a WHAT tomorrow?!?!

Don't you just love those little races you sign up for, thinking they'll be nothing, a mere paving stone in your overall fitness plan, and then events conspire to make them a completely regretable experience? This has been a phlegmy week at the old Lust for Grits house. And the other day I remembered I have a stupid 5K tomorrow morning. (blech) Not that the race's cause is stupid, just my participation in it. The up side is that it isn't an A or B race, and it will be near calm in the wind department. The down sides: I feel like poo still, I'm expecting a brisk 35-40 degrees at start time, and I would much rather sleep in and then go eat pancakes. Well, at least we can go do the flapjacks afterward. Oh, another up side to it is that the start line is about 1/2 mile from my home, so my warm-up will be getting to the race.

Training has suffered this week. I did ride a couple of days, back-to-back. In retrospect, however, I should have rested on the second day. Sometimes I think I'll never learn: train hard, race hard, rest hard, recover hard. The intensity at which you demand performance from the bod must be matched with the intensity that you take care of it. Oh well, better now that in a couple of weeks when we will be in Myrtle Beach for the early season's big running event.

I'm so depressed, I think we will go drown our woes in Mellow Mushroom and Blue Moon. he he he he :-)

I can't wait to see what your "I feel like crap" time on a 5k is. And just think, it'll be over in no time. It's not like you have to run 13 feeling like crap :)

I agreed to do Body Attack at the gym this morning and I think I am more nervous about it than I was doing the half :P

Hope it went well! Or, did you decide to succumb to the comfort of your bed instead?
