I just checked the Setup Events website for the South Carolina Tri Series, and I'm doing pretty well in series standings. In my male age group I'm in...

FIRST FREAKIN PLACE!

Now, there are plenty more races in the season, but I'm as happy as a...well, something that's just really damn happy! Woo hoo!!!!

Great job! Definitely something to be proud of. I agree with you about always pushing to get better, but also enjoying the process and realizing that 99.9999% of the population either can't or won't ever try anything like this...which makes every triathlete a winner.

How may races are left in the series?

Congratulations, David! You are an inspirational tri-athlete and age grouper, although I'm sure you will lose that last definition some day as you move up in the over all standings :-)

...and you thought you'd be in 3rd place still! That's fantastic news! I really think you can hold onto!!!

To answer Chad and Marcy. There are 6 left, 1 of which is Half-Ironman, and a few are Olympic distance.

David, I am brand new to cycling so pass on all those tips anytime you feel inspired to do so. :>)

I rode a little off and on last fall as part of my cross training for my half. I never went more then 4-5 miles at a time then. It's just been this spring that I decided to train for a tri and so just in the last few months I have pushed up my mileage and speed (was riding at 8 mph forever).

Anyway, thanks for your tips!

To quote my most favorite idol (I'm kidding of course LOL) "That's hot!" Seriously though, you've already done 6 and are in 1st place ?!? AWESOME job!!!

No, I've done 4 of the 10 total. I think that if I complete all the remaining races, I stand a good chance to stand on the overall podium at the end of the year. Gotta stay healthy!
